Oikocredit contracted Connexus to deliver its Agricultural Value Chain Finance training, adapting it to the specific needs and interests of Oikocredit staff in Latin America and Africa.
In February, Connexus trained over 30 Oikocredit staff in Piura, Peru. The training was tailored to Oikocredit’s interest in specialty coffee and other locally relevant high value crops such as peppers. Following two days of highly participatory classroom-style training, the trainers guided participants through the exercise of applying the learning while conducting due diligence field visits to local small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Connexus will be training Oikocredit’s Africa staff in Kamembe, Rwanda in May 2014, which will include due diligence field visits for coffee, tea, and honey value chains.
