Connexus conducted research on the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) Group’s private sector investments and initiatives in Latin American and Caribbean countries related to agricultural value chains. The study included desk research on high agricultural growth value chains and a detailed assessment of IADB’s current investment vehicles and projects, including on-site visits and interviews with IADB officials and stakeholders (including value chain actors, financial institutions, technical assistance providers, and government officials). The study addressed issues related to gender, youth and indigenous populations, and anticipated market and climate change impacts over the next decade.
Based on the research findings, Connexus made recommendations on how IADB should support and invest in rural and agricultural development in ways that will improve efficiencies, while increasing positive economic, social, and environmental impacts in Latin America and the Caribbean.
